Summary
Just some random thoughts about my birthday trip...
I loved meeting the chef, Allison, and the birthday song and birthday cake at the Garden Grill. At Crystal Palace, I loved the Pooh waffles but did not care for the honey yogurt. By the end of the trip, I was so tired of that ramp or hill or whatever you call it leading up to the resort monorail. We had to do it four times in a row for four meals in a row. I loved the food at Chef Mickey's, both breakfast and dinner. I also loved getting to see Pooh so many times at the parks and resorts, he is my favorite. Minnie is my second favorite and we got to see a lot of her, too. I think my favorite meal this trip, discounting the bad service was Fulton’s Crab House. The crab legs were wonderful as were the shrimp and crab cakes. The mushroom fries were good yet very different. My favorite dessert of the trip had to be the Cherry Cobbler at Liberty Tree Tavern. Illuminations: Reflections of Earth was wonderful as always. I really liked having so many people wish me Happy Birthday when I was wearing my birthday buttons. The Animal Kingdom Lodge was awesome. I thought the place where we watched Wishes from left a bad feeling about the show, but we will definitely give it another try on a future trip. We saw characters everywhere as you can tell from our pictures. I enjoyed tasting the different foods at the Food and Wine Festival. I loved collecting the different pins for the Halloween, my birthday and the Food and Wine Festival. The best part of the whole trip was that I was with my darling husband, who treated me to such a wonderful way to turn 30. This was the best birthday I have ever had. I love you Bill, thank you for everything.
Overall this trip was our best trip to Walt Disney World since our honeymoon in 2000. I hope everyone has enjoyed reading this very long trip report.
My final thoughts about our trip...
Things started out kind of crazy with all of the traffic and the International drive fiasco. Once there though things went smoothly for the most part. I really liked the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Boma. It was great meeting the Debs, Dotti and other RADPers at Epcot. Allison, the chef, and the Garden Grill were great and made Min feel really special. Animal Kingdom is rapidly becoming my favorite park. It was very nice sharing the Disney magic with the Kilimanjaro Safari fastpass exchanges. I really like seeing the animals at Animal Kingdom. I especially liked the look at your own pace while walking the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail and the Maharajah Jungle Trek. It was really neat watching Min's reaction to her first time on Kali River Rapids. Some of the changes at some of the breakfast buffets left me wanting for more. The look on Min's face when Minnie's attendant asked everyone to say Happy Birthday, was one of those special Disney moments. It was rough being the victim of the hours are subject to change without notice message on the Disney website. However, watching the characters from the parade say Happy Birthday to Min as they passed was really special. We finally got our picture taken with Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. I really liked the almost empty Main Street first thing in the in the morning before the park opened. Min's birthday breakfast at Crystal Palace was great. The continual problems with Min's AP at the admission gates was not fun. Having to
wait to see if our trip pictures turned out and then finding some didn't was not a good thing. I really liked Fantasmic, the many different elements combined for a very good show. Another special moment was when Tigger gave Min a birthday hug. I loved all of Mousekeeping "surprises." I really liked the Adventurers' Club. Our first ride on Test Track was great. I liked sampling all of the different foods at the Food and Wine Festival. Dinner at the California Grill was my favorite meal for this trip. I liked Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party especially the ride of the headless horseman. I liked getting to ride up front on the monorail. I really hated having to go home but Walt Disney World is only a couple of hours down the road and we have annual passes.
The trip was wonderful and I am very, very happy that my darling wife enjoyed her 30th Birthday Celebration.
